Code of Hammurabi

In an English translation, the whole code, here.

Here’s the bas relief of Hammurabi from the display of lawmakers who gave us the heritage of U.S. laws, in the House of Representatives chamber:

Hammurabi, as portrayed in the U.S. House of Representatives display of great lawgivers
Hammurabi (fl. c. 1792-1750 B.C.).

King of Babylonia; author of the Code of Hammurabi, which is recognized in legal literature as one of the earliest surviving legal codes.
