Extra credit: Watch “Freedom Riders” tonight on PBS, write a page on it

Great new film premieres tonight on American Experience on PBS (8:00 p.m. on Channel 13, KERA in Dallas).

“Freedom Riders” comes on the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides, the best and highest work of the Congress of Racial Equality to integrate interstate bus lines running through the southern states, and the bus depots the buses stopped at, and the lunch counters attached to the bus depots.

Then, it took courage just to ride the bus.  Could you muster that kind of courage?

Watch the film, write up a one page report or reflection (formal writing style), get 100 points extra credit.

Update: The film will be shown on KERA’s second HD channel, 13.2, at 6:00 p.m. and again at 11:00 p.m., on May 17, 2011.
